Every project begins with a vision. Sometimes that vision is bold and dramatic, other times it’s quiet and refined. What brings it to life are the materials and more often than not, wood is at the center of the story. The right texture, tone, and finish don’t just add to a design, they define its character.
ICON was created with this level of detail in mind. It’s not one look. It’s a palette of possibilities that allows to design with freedom and confidence.
A Palette of Species
The starting point is species. Each carries its own voice.
- Douglas Fir is strong and expressive, with a bold grain that holds its presence
- Radiata Pine is available in our classic smooth or hewn finish.
- Poplar leans lighter, with a subtle grain that brightens spaces
- Maple is crisp and uniform, lending a sharp, sophisticated quality
Though each species looks and feels different, they all share ICON’s core promise: thermal modification that delivers stability, durability, and predictability. You get to choose the look without sacrificing performance.

The Role of Finish
Once the species is selected, finish defines the feeling. Unfinished ICON Douglas Fir softens over time, weathering to a silvery gray that feels effortlessly timeless. ICON Hewn Radiata Pine brings subtle texture and rhythm. Each board comes alive with light, shadow, and depth. Add the optional CUTEK® Extreme penetrating oil finish to deepen color, highlight grain, and ensure lasting protection.
Finishes aren’t about limitation; they’re about control. With ICON, you’re not forced into one outcome. You have the freedom to decide how the wood will look on installation day, and how it will evolve over time.

Designing with Tone and Texture
Wood doesn’t live in isolation. It interacts with glass, steel, stone, and concrete. It plays with shadow and light. ICON’s variety allows you to decide how it will participate in the composition. Do you want a light, smooth surface that keeps the palette bright? A darker, more dramatic cladding that provides contrast? Or a textured finish that adds movement to a façade?
The consistency of ICON means you can make these decisions with confidence. Whether the project calls for uniform, modern lines or expressive, rustic detail, ICON can be shaped to fit the vision.
